Who We Are

Big Sandy Bridge

The BMRC is a group of enthusiastic model railroaders who are actively working on building and operating a large model railroad which represents the northern extremity of the Clinchfield Railroad and the connecting C&O Railroad. The C&O part of the layout inlcudes the line from Elkhorn City, KY north to the main line between Cincinnati and Charleston. The central portion of the main line is represented also. The 2300 square foot HO scale model railroad has over 1,500 feet of mainline track on two levels.

The club currently has 24 members from south central Michigan and northwestern Ohio. BMRC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and is open regularly to the public and schools, scouts, churches, service clubs, and other groups. Membership is open and junior memberships are open from age 12(with a parent) to 18. Present member ages range from 13 to 70+

Our club meetings are very informal, as our main interest is to continue to build and operate the layout. Although the layout will never be truly complete, most of the mainline track is in place and much of it has the base scenery in place. But there is still plenty of projects to work on. So whatever your interest; scenery, structure building, track work, carpentry, electronics; there is always something fun to do. If this sounds like something you would enjoy getting involved in, read on and then drop us a line.
